FTC Commissioner Makes Unusual Comments About Price Gouging

In today’s Wall Street Journal, FTC Commissioner J. Thomas Rosch submitted an unusal letter to the editor suggesting that the Justice Department is an “arm of the administration,” a fact he believes is confirmed by the Attorney General’s announcement that he is forming at President Obama’s request a new “working group” to investigate “price gouging” at the gas pump.  Commissioner Rosch noted that the group would duplicate functions of existing agencies — namely, the FTC — and wrote that the move is “blatantly political.”

The letter is here (hopefully not behind the WSJ’s pay wall).
